SMA Missions has made a conscious decision to concentrate on the "Bajio" (or the Countryside) since it has vast cultural, geographical, and economic features across its regions. While it draws on a rich labor base, it has failed to serve its local children. The Bajío is vital for its regional dynamics yet the needs of its population, especially the children are unfulfilled.
It is in the Bajío area, especially in the Guanajuato and Querétaro areas, where environmental issues have been identified, resulting in health related issues such as deterioration of air quality causing respiratory conditions, illnesses associated with the quality of drinking water and by wastewater, soil degradation contributing to failure in appropriate nutrition, deforestation, loss of biodiversity, and climate change.
For these reasons, with your support SMA Missions is hoping to support Mexican children in peril located within the "Bajio" to ease at least one aspect of their plight. We will be starting in the San Miguel de Allende surrounding area, then expanding across Central Mexico (Bajio, “includes—from south to north—the states of Querétaro, Guanajuato, parts of Jalisco (Centro, Los Altos de Jalisco), Aguascalientes and parts of Zacatecas, San Luis Potosí and Michoacán”).
