As God’s own, we believe there’s an important kingdom work to do. Whether the task is great or small, we do it by serving our fellow people. During His brief time on earth, Jesus was good at drawing marginalized people to Himself, but even among the needy, there were others who caught His attention at a deeper level: The Children. We can follow Jesus’ example by showing a child that he or she has value in our eyes and in the eyes of God.

SMA Missions’ stated goal of providing life-saving preventive care, much need nutritional support and treatment to vulnerable children in Mexico closely parallels the heart of Jesus’ statement in Matthew 19:13–14:
“Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.”

Removing barriers for children
In Matthew 19, the disciples initially try to block the children from approaching Jesus. Jesus corrects this, insisting that nothing should hinder them. Likewise, SMA Missions is focused on removing very real barriers—lack of medical access, poverty, and infrastructure gaps—that prevent children from receiving life-saving care. In both cases, the central idea is: children must not be obstructed from receiving what they desperately need.
Active compassion, not passive sentiment
Jesus doesn’t merely bless children in theory; He physically welcomes them, touches them, and prays for them. It is embodied compassion.
In the same way, SMA Missions expresses compassion in a tangible form--Preventing childhood diseases driven by obesity, diabetes, and chronic kidney disease (CKD) and enabling treatment. It reflects the same principle Jesus demonstrated: love expressed through action meets urgent physical need.
The value and priority of children in the Kingdom
Jesus declares that the kingdom of heaven “belongs” to children—elevating their worth, dignity, and spiritual significance.
SMA Missions operates in that same value framework: children are not secondary or expendable but central and worthy of extraordinary effort, resources, and sacrifice.
Access to life and healing as a Kingdom expression
While Matthew 19 is often read spiritually, it also reveals a Kingdom ethic: God’s heart moves toward restoration, life, and wholeness—especially for the most vulnerable.

Children are not interruptions in the Kingdom; they are its inheritance. And anything that hinders them from life, healing, or access to God’s mercy stands in opposition to His revealed heart. This is where the mission becomes more than logistics, and charity becomes more than aid. SMA Missions steps directly into that sacred tension—where suffering children stand behind barriers they did not create: poverty, distance, lack of medical supplies, and overwhelmed systems. Every truck of medicine, every piece of equipment delivered, every child given a fighting chance at life is not merely humanitarian work—it is a practical echo of Christ’s command: "do not hinder them".
Because in the Kingdom of God, a child gasping for breath, a child waiting for treatment, a child in crisis is never “too far away” or “too complicated.” They are exactly the ones Jesus singled out.
So the question presses beyond organization and mission:
If Jesus refused to allow barriers between Himself and the children, how can we accept barriers between children and the help that could save them?
This is the convergence point—where Matthew 19 becomes action, and compassion becomes obedience.

1. The Holy Scriptures
- We affirm the Holy Scriptures, consisting of the Old and New Testaments, as the inspired, infallible, and inerrant Word of God. The Bible is the only sufficient, certain, and final authority for all matters of faith, doctrine, and practice. Through it, God reveals Himself and His redemptive will, equipping His people for every good work (2 Timothy 3:16–17; 2 Peter 1:20–21).
2. The One True God
- We affirm one living and true God, holy and eternal, the Creator of all things visible and invisible and the Sustainer of all creation. He exists eternally in three coequal and coeternal Persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—one in essence, power, and glory (Deuteronomy 6:4; Matthew 28:19).
3. Jesus Christ
- We affirm that Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God, fully God and fully man, conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. He lived a sinless life in perfect obedience to the Father and offered Himself as a substitution atoning sacrifice for sinners.
- We affirm His bodily resurrection from the dead, His ascension into heaven, and His present reign at the right hand of the Father. He is the only Savior of mankind, and there is salvation in no other name (1 Corinthians 15:3–4; Acts 4:12).
4. The Holy Spirit
- We affirm that the Holy Spirit is the promised Helper sent by the Father and the Son. He convicts the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment, and brings sinners to repentance and faith in Jesus Christ. He regenerates, indwells, sanctifies, empowers, and seals all believers until the day of redemption (John 16:8; Titus 3:5; Ephesians 1:13–14).
5. Salvation
- We affirm that all humanity is created in the image of God yet is fallen in sin and spiritually dead. Salvation is by grace alone, through faith alone, in Jesus Christ alone. It is the free gift of God, not based on works, and is received through repentance toward God and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.
- We affirm that all who are truly saved are born again by the Holy Spirit and made new creations in Christ (Ephesians 2:8–9; 2 Corinthians 5:17).

6. The Church
- We affirm that the Church is the Body of Christ, composed of all true believers, and is expressed locally in congregations of baptized believers who covenant together in faith and fellowship under the authority of Christ.
- We affirm the autonomy of the local church under the lordship of Christ, governed by His Word, and led by qualified elders.
- We affirm the two ordinances given by Christ to His Church: believer’s baptism by immersion as the public testimony of faith, and the Lord’s Supper as a memorial of His atoning death and a proclamation of His return (Acts 2:41–42).
- The Church is commissioned to worship God, preach the Gospel, make disciples of all nations, and demonstrate the love of Christ in word and deed (Matthew 28:18–20).
7. Baptism and the Lord’s Supper
- We affirm believer’s baptism by immersion as the commanded outward sign of union with Christ, reserved for those who have personally repented and believed.
- We affirm the Lord’s Supper as a continuing ordinance for the Church, in which believers remember Christ’s sacrifice, proclaim His death, and anticipate His return.

- We affirm the personal, visible, and glorious return of Jesus Christ to judge the living and the dead and to consummate His Kingdom. We affirm the resurrection of the righteous and the final judgment, and the hope of eternal life in the presence of God (Acts 1:11; Revelation 21:1–4).
